roommate search 2003

the search for my replacement in the apt has really taken off. in addition to the new people calling me every day, my roommate hawaiian mike put an ad on roommatesearch.com at about 6pm as i was getting home and since then 3 people have called and come over to see the place. nuts.

first person who called me is anne. i havent met her yet but have only talked on the phone with her. she's seems very sweet and easy going. nice midwestern girl. has a bit of an accent too. i guess it brings me back to the days of my childhood when i thought the fargo accent was the norm. anyways, she calls me today at work apologizing for not keeping in touch and for not being able to take a look at the place today as planned. she explains there's been mad drama in her life lately. i dont ask her whats going on cuz its none of my business, but she goes ahead and tells me anyway.

that's why i like anne. first conversation we had was on monday. she tells me she's looking for a place closer to her work. she's an art teacher at a museum. i ask her where her work is. fullerton. that's not close i tell her. where do you live now? "i dont know WHAT i was thinking when i came here from michigan, but i got an apartment in la". well, commute-wise costa mesa is a lot closer than la. she has to tackle the 10, 605 AND the 91 everyday, to and fro. oh, and turns out she LITERALLY moved in yesterday. can u understand my incoherent ramblings?

so today i talk to her. she apologizes, and starts telling me about her life again. so. the drama she was mentioning earlier? well, she moved out here with a friend of hers. he proposed to her yesterday. and she said they werent even dating or nothing! oops. so anyways, shes trying to get out of that living situation asap. poor girl.

so a bunch of random people came by today to look at the apt. first there's ian. nice guy. somewhat quiet. generic. bland. vanilla. liked the place a lot. i mentioned my midwestern sweetheart who i figure should have at least a look. he tried to bribe me. my roommates think he's gay. i dont. wasnt dressed well at all.

2nd guy. red head. freckled. big guy. just got back from military. roommies didnt like that. showed him around, chit chat, sent him on his way. buh-bye.

enter 3rd guy. chris. quiet geek. very passive in a geeky way. walks in wearing a bruce lee kung fu button and hooks shirt. messy hair. ended up staying for an hour. eating our pizza we ordered, watching tv with us. i was thinking 'damn is this guy moving in already...' but my roomie mike liked that. spent past several years in japan studying. now a grad student at uc irvine in math. yep, geek. tallks like a geek. you could tell he's a fucking genious tho. turns out he went to MIT for undergrad. also spins drums and bass. go figure. roommates LOVED him. such a geek tho. but it would definitely be interesting to live with a geeky genius. BUT, roommates were offhandedly mentioning the management does a credit check and background check. that made him uncomfortable. whoah.

4th person. girl. rotund. 5 foot, maybe baaarely. just moved from conneticut. very clean, made up nice tho. talks waaay too much. super nice person, good heart. but the 15 min she was here seemed like 3 hours. chatty chatty. roommates didnt like her cuz of that. buh-bye.

cant write no more. brain is fried. im supposed to be inputting user id's for the hyundai dealers, but there are 227 markets meaning 227 dealer id's. i guess it can wait. oh yea. company-wide e-mail today to everyone. EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY. BUSINESS HOURS WILL CHANGE FROM 830-5 TO 9-5. woohoo. yippy skippy.
