i figured out what the funny noise coming from my computer was--a fucked up hard drive. so i went to fry's today and bought a 30 gig maxtor. $50 after a $30 mail-in rebate. not too shabby. too bad i was unable to retrieve most of the stuff on my old hard drive. oh well, it feels nice to be starting with a fresh new palette.
