my cuz

today i worked overtime for the first time. i left work at like 7:45pm. i know that's not late really, but it was the first time i came out of 4 park plaza and and was greeted by a dark sky.

in other news, i chatted with my cousin seung woo in korea. he's 2 years older and he just graduated college. he's trying to find a job and i think this period of uncertainty is stressing him out. but i know he'll be alright.

i remember visiting his house when i was a little kid, and i remember him telling me how he just bought a brand new record (yea, this was a long time ago). he walked up to the shelf and took out what was at the time the brand new george michael record. he handled it gingerly and played a couple of his favorite tracks. my dad always teases him cuz he has a unique lazy way of talking, slurring his speech so the S's sound like Z's. pretty damn mellow guy, if i say so myself. but he would always get excited over music--not like teeny-bopper excited but more like true music lover excited. lemme tell you, not your typical young korean kid.

and he was a big movie buff. being young kids, we didnt have much to do so a lot times we would just go out and rent videos. they were usually american, cuz my korean was pretty limited back then. it was a common ground for us, our love of movies. i remember watching the punisher with him, and i remember the scene where dolph lundgren is holed up somewhere and he heats up a metal rod and puts it on his wounds to disinfect them. he yells out in pain, the sound echoing as the camera zooms out. funny, my memory isnt too good but i clearly remember watching that particular scene from that particular movie at seung woo's house as a little kid.
